We love winter weddings in the Hunter Valley
Don’t get us wrong, there’s a lot to be said for balmy, sun-soaked afternoons and an abundance of vibrant and fragrant flowers, but winter weddings in the Hunter Valley offer something pretty special too. They’re becoming an increasingly popular choice for couples and we are HERE. FOR. IT. Why should spring and summer weddings have all the fun?!
Humidity? Never heard of her.
No scorching summer heat means minimal - if any - uncomfortable sweating. Your hair and makeup will definitely thank you, as will guests and bridal party members who wear a suit or heavier-style dress on the day. Holding your ceremony and reception indoors and away from the unpredictable elements will also make wedding planning much less stressful. Win, win!
Improved venue and vendor availability
It’s called ‘peak season’ for a reason! Getting married in June - August offers increased flexibility for couples because these months are generally much quieter. This means you’ll find it a lot easier to secure everything and everyone on your wedding day wish list.
Winter has the best lighting for photos
This is a little-known fact, actually. Lighter is better during the cooler months! There’s no awkward and unavoidable squinting from bright sunlight, and the twilight shots overlooking our picturesque merlot vineyard are absolutely breathtaking. Dusk settles in earlier too and its dreamy hues are just divine!
More room to be creative with your styling
Winter weddings are out of the ordinary, which means your flowers, napery and other decor can be too. It’s easy to stand out from a sea of blush-toned peonies during the cooler months - think crisp whites and greens for a timeless celebration or mottled turquoise, royal purple, deep burgundy and other rich jewel tones for something moody and rustic.
Primed for an overseas honeymoon
Saved the best for last! Australian winters are European summers, which means June - August is the best time to tie the knot if you’re craving a sunny holiday post-wedding. Santorini, anyone?
